If you’ve never been upside-down or in a backbend, don’t fret! With understanding and a steady, systematic method, we can overcome this fear and spend time upside-down and expansive.
Richard’s method includes practices to help build strength and stability. In the spirit of ahimsa (non-violence) and satya (honoring truth), students can work within their level of comfort. Inversions are a boon for the digestive, circulatory and lymphatic systems. Backbends stimulate our nervous system and metaphorically open possibilities.
Handstand, shoulderstand, forearm balance and headstand will be reviewed. The backbends include wheel, upward wheel drop-backs, plus several supported postures.
Students should be familiar with yoga (at least six months of a regular yoga practice) and without recent shoulder or wrist injuries.
